Uzbekistan and China are expanding cooperation in tourism

On May 21, a specialized forum dedicated to the development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism was held in the city of Xi’an (PRC) within the framework of the “III Interregional Forum Uzbekistan - China”.

During the event, issues of expanding tourism ties between Uzbekistan and China, the formation of joint tourist routes, as well as the implementation of new investment projects in the industry were discussed.

The forum was attended by a delegation led by the Chairman of the Committee on Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Akkulov, as well as more than 40 representatives of travel companies, tourist and recreational areas, tourist complexes and air carriers operating in Uzbekistan.

It is noted that the inclusion of tourism among the key areas of the forum emphasizes its importance within the framework of strategic cooperation between the two countries.

In his speech, Abdulaziz Akkulov proposed expanding tourist routes for Chinese tourists, considering the possibility of opening mid- and high-segment hotels under Chinese brands, as well as the development of resorts, sanatoriums and family and active recreation facilities in tourist areas of Uzbekistan.

Initiatives have also been put forward to create theme parks and entertainment complexes using advanced Chinese experience and technology, develop business tourism (MICE), attract international corporate events, banks and associations, and promote regional MICE sites.

During the forum, presentations were made on the tourism potential of the regions of Uzbekistan, including the historical and cultural heritage of Bukhara, the capabilities of the Kashkadarya region in the field of ecotourism and pilgrimage tourism, the importance of Samarkand in world civilization, as well as the tourism infrastructure of Tashkent and the Tashkent region.

The participants were also presented with the tourist complexes “Miraki” and “Arda Khiva”, ecotourism destinations in the Aydarkul region and the potential of the Amirsoy Mountain Resort.

Special attention was paid to reforms in the tourism sector in Uzbekistan, the development of new routes, hotel infrastructure and conditions for foreign investors.

As part of the forum, B2B meetings were held with the participation of more than 200 tour operators and representatives of the tourism industry of the two countries, aimed at expanding cooperation and increasing the tourist flow to Uzbekistan.
