The First Uzbek-Georgian Tourism Forum took place in Samarkand
On August 17, the First Uzbek-Georgian Tourism Forum, organized by the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, took place in the city of Samarkand.
The forum was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee Sanjar Tadzhiev, Chairman of the Tourism Association of Georgia Natalie Kvachantiradze, as well as more than 80 representatives of the tourism industry of the two countries.
The event was a practical continuation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Georgia on July 2–3 of this year, and was aimed at developing direct cooperation between tourism companies of the two countries.
During the forum, the parties identified the main directions for further development of cooperation. In particular, the issues of creating joint tourist packages and new routes, expanding direct flights, developing cultural, historical, wellness, medical and recreational, pilgrimage, gastronomic, environmental, adventure and MICE tourism were discussed. Particular attention was paid to organizing mutual familiarization and media tours, joint promotion of the tourism opportunities of the two countries through digital platforms, as well as joint participation in international tourism exhibitions.
An important part of the forum was devoted to direct business contacts between representatives of the tourism business of the two countries. In particular, after the presentations, B2B meetings took place between tour operators of Uzbekistan and Georgia, during which the companies directly discussed the possibilities of expanding cooperation, forming joint tourism products and establishing new business connections.
Representatives of the Georgian tourism industry also, as part of an introductory visit to Uzbekistan, got acquainted in detail with the tourism products of our country, cultural heritage sites and modern infrastructure. This will allow us to further develop tourist routes taking into account the capabilities of specific destinations.
It should be noted that in January–July 2026, the flow of tourists from Georgia to Uzbekistan increased by 25.9 percent. In general, over the seven months of this year, about 7.75 million foreign tourists visited Uzbekistan, which is 22.6 percent more than the same period last year. Exports of tourism services amounted to about 3.9 billion US dollars.
